Specialty Chemicals
EURECO
SCB is the sole producer worldwide of a special molecule (PAP) that has a bleaching and sanitizing effect when in contact with water even at low temperatures. For such qualities, this molecule is thus regarded as a modern lever to achieve an energy and material saving effect inside the formulation of advanced and eco-friendly detergents and disinfectants. PAP is employed in several formulations, physical forms (liquid, cream, solid) and concentrations directly developed by SCB also in collaboration with its main customers, creating the widest product range ever commercialized under the Eureco brand.

Projects Portfolio
Carbon capture and syngas production
Hard-to-abate manufacturing processes release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. With a strong sustainability vision, a new catalyst is being developed to convert CO2 into syngas—a hydrogen and carbon monoxide mixture used in high-value chemical synthesis, such as virgin naphtha and methanol. Methanol, along with ammonia, is a key hydrogen carrier and a potential marine fuel. The syngas produced through this process aims to reduce the carbon footprint of steam reforming, the primary production method. Another patented innovation in progress is a catalyst that converts liquid organic waste into hydrogen and CO2 at lower temperatures than current technologies. In line with its circular approach, VECTRE plans to use the captured CO2 to produce syngas, which can then be converted into methanol, further closing the carbon loop.
Sustainable polymers
Leveraging its strong electrochemical expertise, the company develops innovative hydrogenation technologies to produce key organic intermediates (monomers) through energy-efficient processes, supporting the advanced polymers sector (e.g., nylon 6.6). Additionally, investments in R&D focus on a more sustainable catalyst and a more efficient process at one of its sites, paving the way for Nylon 9 production.
Innovative Fine Chemicals
VECTRE, in collaboration with its partners, is actively reshoring intermediate precur- sors for APIs. Since most APIs contain chlori- ne, the company invests in developing proprietary processes that reuse chemicals already available at its production sites, such as chlorine gas, sodium hypochlorite, and chlorinated brine. This reshoring effort focuses on alternative processes, including electro-chlorination of organics, which is a more sustainable and safer method, avoiding the use of highly toxic oxidant agents typically used in current practices.
Electrolysis 4.0
The company continues to invest in innovati- ve catalysts and technologies to make brine electrolysis and the hydrogen/ammonia supply chain more sustainable. Over the next five years, it aims to revolutio- nize the sodium chlorite market with a paten- ted chromium-free catalyst, developed in-house, that will surpass existing chromium VI-based solutions. This advancement will make the sodium chlorite process safer and more eco-friendly. With ammonia demand expected to rise by 2050, particularly in marine fuel and hydro- gen vector sectors, green ammonia will be essential for achieving decarbonization goals. In this context, efforts are focused on develo- ping new catalysts for two key chemical processes: ammonia production via electro-synthesis and ammonia electro-oxi- dation for hydrogen and nitrogen generation. The goal is to create an efficient, sustainable alternative to today’s energy-intensive ammonia production methods.
